Final Thoughts: Medellin

Christmas

A Colombian Christmas begins early November and goes to the end of December. Christmas trees could be seen decorated and lit up in most apartments, and the El Tosoro mall had Christmas decorations adorning the interior plazas. The tropical weather made this a unique Christmas experience!

El Tosoro Mall was a landing spot for a wide selection of different foods from around the world. The atmosphere was “high-end”, there was a gym on the upper level, a small amusement park for children was located in the center of the mall, and there were a variety of stores to shop at. If its raining or you need to escape the heat, this mall is a great place to hang out. Plus, the mall has floor to ceiling windows facing the valley, so you have an expansive view of all Medellin!

Transportation

Uber is the preferred method of travel. Rides around town or across the valley were no more than 7 US dollars. Short rides were 1-2 dollars, and I never waited more than 5 minutes for a ride. For this trip, I used Uber as my main mode of transportation because walking was a little challenging due to the fact the streets follow the steep incline and declines of the mountainous landscape. With that in mind, when I arrived back home, my Uber bill was approximately $150.00 for the week.
